On my last day of being in Jogjakarta for the HackFest event hosted by UAJY, the committee took the Tokopedia team to Candi Ratu Boko. Honestly, I had no idea what the Candi Ratu Boko is. The landmarks I know that's located in Jogjakarta are only Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan. My expectation of this place was that it will have a majestic collection of temples just like Borobudur and Prambanan.
They decided to bring us to Candi Ratu Boko because it was the closest landmark from UAJY and our flight was on the evening of the same day. It only took us around 1 hour by car to get to the Candi Ratu Boko. There are also
different alternatives on how to get there provided by PT Taman Wisata Candi at their website.
The admission ticket to the Candi Ratu Boko is
only Rp 40.000 with a flat-rate Rp 10.000 parking fee for cars. Now don't expect to find a lot of temples at this landmark because it's actually ruins of an empire. It consists of several buildings, the main gate, Pendopo (a gathering area), Keputren (Princess Palace), caves, and many other areas of the empire.
Most visitors come to this place
during sunset hours because it acts a perfect photo background. Unfortunately, our time wasn't much and we can only stay there for a few hours.
Candi Ratu Boko was an interesting place to visit despite its undeniable heat during the day. And for those who would like to explore the other temples, there's actually a
package ticket available at only Rp 75.000. So, give this place a visit on your next trip to Jogja!
